STELLARIUM CRASHES ON STARTUP WIN7 DRIVERS
I have the latest updates for Windows 7 and installed the latest ATI drivers for my video card. Sometimes Stellarium will just create a new oculars.ini so you lose all your data (that you can copy/paste from the old to new) and sometimes it just pukes.įor a super quick test just rename the oculars.ini to (when Stellarium isn't running of course) then start Stellarium and go to ocular view and if it doesn't crash you know why now.Įdited by jeremiah2229, 17 November 2018 - 02:49 PM.I just installed the latest version of FreeCAD this morning off this website.
STELLARIUM CRASHES ON STARTUP WIN7 INSTALL
You can copy the data from this into the fresh oculars.ini but do not replace the version info if it is present in the new install as this is where Stellarium will puke after an upgrade, when it parses the oculars.ini and the version info (if present) doesn't match the version of Stellarium you are running.

Keep a backup of the oculars.ini if you resort to uninstalling, deleting the left over folders and reinstalling. If you do an uninstall then reinstall in an effort to fix, after the uninstall you will need to go to your AppData folder and delete all Stellarium folders left over after the uninstall, this is a must and sadly you have to start over from scratch. If it still crashes when trying these then with your file manager navigate to C:\Users\your_user_name_here\AppData\Roaming\Stellarium\modules\Oculars\ and rename the oculars.ini to then try and see what happens. If these will work without crashing then get the latest drivers for you video chip. From the Start Menu go to Stellarium and click to expand and here you should have some different modes to try ie, MESA - Angle - OpenGL Diagnostics.
